Update: March 5, 2007

I have had the great fortune to work with a fantastic player out of St. Louis, the one and only Jim Manley. Many of you know Jim's work, but I garuntee there are some sound files you haven't heard before, and you will be inspired by his story of dedication and perserverence. Also, check out the amazing John Madrid, new artist to the More Screamers page.

Update: December 22, 2006

Screamtrumpet.com is closing out its fifth year with a bang! There is a new featured artist: Eric Miyashiro. Eric is an amazing player and a great person, and I know you'll enjoy his sound clips. I have also added a live cut of Gabriel on the Maynard page, a track by Phil Driscoll, and my latest contribution, both on the More Screamers page. Enjoy, and have a wonderful Christmas!

Update: August 27, 2006

Maynard Ferguson passed away on August 23rd. This site is more than anything a tribute to his legacy, not only as a trumpet player, bandleader, and jazz legend, but also as an amazing human being, who's tireless crusade to bring jazz to young and old alike can neverbe replaced. Without Maynard, many of the musicians featured on this site may very well have never been professional trumpet players. On a personal note, the inpiration I received from Maynard has guided me through half my life. If I had not gone to that concert in September of 1990, I would not have stuck with the trumpet, gone to UW-Eau Claire, met many of my best friends or my beautiful wife.I know I speak for millions when I say I miss him dearly. The music Lives on.

There are new additions to this site on the update, including new material for Jon Faddis, Bill Chase, and my most recent effort to sound likemy hero, Maynard Ferguson, Take On Me.

Update: December 14, 2005

It's been a long time since I updated this page, so I hope to make this series of updates worth the wait! I've added severalnew songs, one from each of the major artists represented here, and also from the guys on the More Screamers page.I'll be adding even more to that page before the end of the year. Also, if I get the nerve, I'll have a new Featured Artistsometime in early 2006!

My final big announcement is that I'm seriously upgrading my bandwidth. This site has been growing rapidlythis year, and has logged over 60 GB of usage in November. So I'm shelling out for 400 GB/month starting in January!

Update: February 2, 2005

Screamtrumpet.com is back!! I'm missing about a year's worth of updates - I lost everything when my previous webhost closed my account, and my last set of backups were seriously outdated. I'll be tweaking the site for a while yet, adding some new features, and getting rid of some other things, like the Concert Series. The major new addition is the Featured Artist page. I will hopefully update that page once or twice a year, depending on how much support I can get fromindividual artists.

Visit the New Featured Artist page featuring Vaughn Nark!

Update: March 23, 2004

Thanks to my friend Tom for alerting me that my email redirect wasn't working. I'm sorry to everyone who's tried to email me through my site. Please try again - Ilook forward to hearing from everyone!

Update: March 5, 2004

Since my last update, I've added Tommy Stevenson and Leo Shepherd to the More Screamers page. I've also posted two new songs forAl Killian. Enjoy!

Update: January 2, 2004

There is a new additon to the More Screamers page. I've added a Byron Stripling section. Byron is a fantastic player from New Yorkwho is a master of many styles, and is also a great guy. ScreamTrumpet.com is also happy to announce it's new partnership with Torpedo Bags the most durable and versatile trumpet cases on Earth!

Update: December 17, 2003

My Jon Faddis page has been lacking since I reopened the site earlier this year. In an attempt to remedy that, I've added two moresongs to that page.

Update: December 13, 2003

There is now a Jim Manley section on the More Screamers page! I've included four live cuts.

When you donload these, please right-click and choose save target as or save link as. I'm getting killed again on bandwidth this month, and the last thingI want to do is start shutting the site down halfway through each month. Thanks and enjoy.

Update: November 26, 2003

I've updated the Doc Severinsen section of the More Screamers page. The first new selection, Flyin' Home, is from theTonight Show, and includes an introduction by Johnny Carson. The other addition is a from a live tv performance from the late '70's. I don't have any moreinformation than that, so I gave it the title, Paso De El Dorado. If anyone knows the real name of this song, or the program from which it originates, please let me know.

Update: November 12, 2003

I had to remove the St. Louis concert selections due to bandwidth limitations (10GB in a week!). So for now, the concert series pageis empty. Speaking of bandwidth, the site has already done 5 GB this month, and my monthly allotment is 8 GB. If you're a frequent visitor, you can save all the sound files to your hard drive by right-clicking on the clip links and choosing Save Target As... (Internet Explorer), or Save Link As... (Netscape). Then just download the file to wherever you want and enjoy at your convenience. Thanks.

Update: October 14, 2003

I've posted The Girl From Ipanema, and Rhythym Of Our World to theConcert Series page. These will be the final two additions for the St. Louis concert. Listen close at the end of Ipanema; you can hear Arturo playing a triple-G from off-stage.

Update: October 13, 2003

From the Alumni show, Danny Boy and Birdland are on theConcert Series page.

The St. Louis MF Alumni/Arturo Sandoval/Maynard Ferguson show was awesome! I've posted the final encore piece, A Night In Tunisia on the Concert Series page!

Update: September 10, 2003

I've added two of the Bud Brisbois duets on the More Screamers page.

Update: August 15, 2003

Check out Doc Severinsen playing the Herman Trumpet Concerto on the More Screamers page. It's not really a screamin' chart, but his cadenza at the end is fantastic!

Update: August 14, 2003

Finally! An update to the Jon Faddis page. If you've seen the CHJB live, you'll recognize their closer, Duke Takes A Train. There have been many versions of this chart through the years, but this is my favorite so far.

Update: July 22, 2003

There are two more Lin Biviano features on the More Screamers page - Cousins, an early scream feature with the Woody Herman band, and Superstar, with Buddy Rich.

Update: July 11, 2003

I've added the live version of La Virgen De La Macarena to the Arturo page. This is from the concert with the Boston Pops.

Update: July 10, 2003

Update: June 16, 2003

Finally, some fan mail:

From Rich Willey, commenting on the Grand Finale (located on the More Screamers page):

"Wanna make 6 minutes seem like 6 hours? Listen to that awful thing. You know I'm just plain wasting my time tonight if I'm listening to that stuff. I now have a new definition of hell: being forced to listen to only those 6 minutes for all eternity. I heard exactly no music being made with all those high notes, by the way."

Thanks Rich, well said. Now get a life.

Update: May 15, 2003

I've added two more sound files to the Maynard page - Pagliacci and the MF Hit Medley.

This is the half-way point of just the second month of the revamped page, and I've already spent 60% of my bandwidth for the month (nearly 4 GB), and I haven't even added all the clips I want! So at some point every month I will have to cut off access to the files or risk the page not coming up at all. Just letting everyone out there know!

Update: May 8, 2003

I fleshed out the Jon Faddis page; I added a story and sound files. All of the pages have content now. I've also added three more sound files to the Maynard page.

Update: May 1, 2003

I've slowly been rolling out the new site over the last three weeks, and will continue to do so for the next couple. I've got 300 Megs to play with now, so no more clips! With a few exceptions, every audio file will be the full song. I hope to do some really cool interactive stuff at some point, and eventually have individual pages for every artist! As of right now, the Cat Anderson page is complete. The rest of the pages are still undergoing revisions, so keep checking back!
